Operation Round Up(date)

Congratulations to the recipients of Operation Round Up funding for the second quarter of 2021. We are pleased that EQUS members can support these community projects.

  • Town of Disbury Library Board, $4,000 - Funding to support childhood literacy through the rejuvenation of the existing juvenile non-fiction collection at the Didsbury Library. After seeing a significant increase in interest in these materials over the past year, the Library will now have funds to purchase over 250 new books which will be suitable for kids up to age 16.
  • West Sturgeon Agricultural Society, $5,000 - Funding to purchase materials to build an outdoor ice rink in Calahoo. The rink will be available to all members of the community at no cost throughout the winter.
  • Blindman Valley Lions Club, $5,000 - Funds to purchase a Konnection Swing to be installed at the Rimbey Soccer Club Playground. The swing is designed to be used by adults and children together, encouraging intergenerational play and providing safety and support for children with disabilities who can be accompanied by an adult on the swing.

Operation Round Up is a program that provides grants to initiatives that support rural youth and seniors using funds raised from participating EQUS members rounding their monthly bills up to the nearest dollar. Operation Round Up funds are awarded by a committee that consists of the EQUS CEO, one representative from the EQUS Board of Directors, and three EQUS members. The committee meets quarterly to review applications and award funding of up to $5,000 per initiative.

The next deadline to apply for Operation Round Up Funding is coming up on September 30!
